The PlaceMakers Apprentice Scholarship Scheme – P.A.S.S. – is a programme that supports aspiring new apprentices to enter the building industry and related trades.
P.A.S.S. is about training the next generation of builders and trades people, creating a well-rounded, highly skilled workforce that understands the building industry and its needs.
The scheme is a partnership between four parties – PlaceMakers, The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO), the apprentice and the employer (a PlaceMakers customer) and works in two ways.
It teams up willing new apprentices with builders who are PlaceMakers customers and who are looking for quality apprentices. Or if an individual is already employed as a hammer hand or labourer with a PlaceMakers customer, they can apply to get qualified through P.A.S.S.
And as a PlaceMakers programme, P.A.S.S. has the backing of New Zealand’s biggest supplies partner to the trade.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT P.A.S.S.?
Apprenticeship training fees are paid by PlaceMakers. Apprentices are also assigned a PlaceMakers mentor for the duration of their apprenticeship and will benefit from work experience organised every quarter.
The current programme is being reviewed so we can make it even better! Therefore we are not currently taking on new applications. Further details will be made available later this year.
